What You Will Learn
During this course, you will learn to navigate the unique challenges of wreck diving. For example, you will master various skills, including:
- Safety First: Understanding key safety considerations and potential hazards, since these are unique to wrecks.
- Survey and Map: Learning to survey and map a wreck, so that you can plan your exploration.
- Specialized Techniques: Practicing wreck penetration using lines and reels, as well as developing specialized finning techniques to avoid kicking up silt.
- Special Equipment: Learning about the specific equipment needed for wreck diving, such as dive lights and reels.
- Research: Discovering how to research a wreck's history in order to make your dive more meaningful.
Prerequisites and Requirements
To enroll in the PADI Wreck Diver course, you must:
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Hold a PADI Adventure Diver certification or an equivalent.
Furthermore, if you have already completed the Wreck Adventure Dive as part of your Advanced Open Water course, that counts as the first of your four dives for this specialty!
